NBA overnight results (February 3): Alperen Sengun decisive for the Rockets with a double-double, while the Hornets and 76ers also performed well. Four NBA games were played overnight, with one of them played yesterday evening, Monday, February 2nd: let's take a quick look at what happened in the States in the world's most famous basketball league.
The Charlotte Hornets (23-28) extended their winning streak to seven consecutive victories by defeating the New Orleans Pelicans (13-39) 114-95, thanks largely to a 29-18 third quarter, with LaMelo Ball scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds, and Kon Knueppel nearly adding a double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Trey Murphy III's 27 points and Zion Williamson's 14 points and 11 rebounds for the visiting team weren't enough to avoid a 11-18 defeat. The Houston Rockets (31-17) took the Indiana Pacers (13-37) by storm on the road, winning 114-118, with the Texans building on their 39-28 second-quarter win that put the match on the right track: Alperen Sengun took the cover with a monster double-double of 39 points and 16 rebounds, with Amen Thompson coming close to a triple-double (16 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists) while Pascal Siakam was the last player to surrender for the defending vice-champions with 27 points. The Memphis Grizzlies (19-29) respected the home court advantage and prevailed over the Minnesota Timberwolves (31-20) with a score of 137-128, with the guests trying to get back in the second half to worry the home team, who repelled every assault while maintaining a safety margin in the final: Jaren Jackson Jr. led his team with 30 points and 6 rebounds, with Anthony Edwards scoring 39 points but they were not enough to overturn the result, as did Jaaden McDaniels (29 points) and Donte DiVincenzo (21 points). In the match that closed the NBA night, the Philadelphia 76ers (28-21) made their presence felt in Los Angeles by beating the Clippers (23-26) 113-128: despite the absence of Paul George suspended for 25 games, it was Tyrese Maxey who carried the team on his shoulders, scoring 29 points with the support of Dominick Barlow (26 points and 16 rebounds) and Joel Embiid (29 points) – 29 points from Kawhi Leonard and 17 points from Kobe Sanders for the home team.
